Grass fire near N. Collister Dr. grows to 40 acres.

A grass fire broke out in the Foothills near N. Collister Dr. on Polecat Gulch in Boise. It started at 4:45 pm and was attended by Boise Fire and BLM. The fire initially covered 4 acres and threatened a home and a barn. Now it has grown to over 40 acres. Firefighters managed to stop the fire from spreading further. They are currently creating containment lines and extinguishing hot spots. It is expected to be under control by 6 pm tomorrow. Fortunately, there have been no injuries or damage to structures reported. Thirty units from Boise Fire and BLM are actively involved in controlling the fire. The cause of the fire is being investigated. People are advised to steer clear of the Polecat Gulch area to allow the crews to work without obstruction.
